What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technology Teacher (K–8) position at Laurel Hall School?
Laurel Hall School (LHS), a vibrant K–8 private school in North Hollywood, is seeking an innovative and dynamic Technology Teacher to lead and grow our technology program. The ideal candidate will inspire students to become thoughtful, creative, and responsible users of technology while supporting faculty in integrating technology across the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach engaging, developmentally appropriate technology classes for students in grades K–8
- Develop and implement a scope and sequence that includes:
- Digital literacy and citizenship
- Coding and computational thinking
- Multimedia creation and design
- Keyboarding and foundational tech skills (primary grades)
- Foster creativity through project-based learning, collaboration, and problem-solving
- Support integration of technology into classroom instruction across subject areas
- Stay current with emerging educational technologies and best practices
- Promote safe, ethical, and responsible technology use
- Robotics team coach for at least two competitions a year, leading a new, young team of MS students– stipend for this work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Teaching credential or equivalent experience
- Experience teaching technology to elementary and/or middle school students
- Strong understanding of current instructional technology tools and platforms
- Ability to differentiate instruction and engage a wide range of learners
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience with coding platforms (e.g., Scratch, Python, robotics)
- Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education and learning management systems
- Experience with multimedia tools (video production, design, digital storytelling)
- Familiarity or Interest in STEM/STEAM integration
