Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Landscape Gardener to join our team in maintaining and

enhancing natural landscapes across residential properties, specifically servicing the mountain community

of Balsam Mountain Preserve. This role includes all the responsibilities of a Landscape Technician, with

a strong focus on environmental stewardship and sustainable practices suited to the region’s native flora

and terrain.

Key Responsibilities:

● Maintain and improve natural landscapes including native plant beds, wooded areas, meadows,

and trails.

● Perform standard landscaping tasks such as mowing, edging, pruning, weeding, mulching,

planting, and leaf removal.

● Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and

hand tools.

● Maintain irrigation systems and ensure water-efficient usage.

● Apply fertilizers, compost, and natural soil amendments as needed.

● Monitor plant health and identify signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies; apply eco-

friendly treatments when necessary.

● Assist with erosion control, habitat restoration, and invasive species management in accordance with best environmental practices.

● Follow seasonal schedules for pruning, planting, and clean-up.

● Collaborate with landscape designers or supervisors on garden layouts, planting plans, and

ecological management goals.

● Ensure all tasks comply with safety standards and environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

● Proven experience in landscaping, horticulture, or garden maintenance (2 years preferred).

● Knowledge of native plant species and ecosystems specific to Western North Carolina.

● Strong understanding of landscaping techniques, equipment, and maintenance schedules.

● Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain.

● Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and performing physically demanding tasks.

● Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

● Certification in landscaping, horticulture, or pesticide application is a plus.
