Job Summary

The Clinical Education Coordinator (CEC) is a dual-role position responsible for managing the clinical education component of the Sonography program while providing high-quality classroom and laboratory instruction. The CEC ensures that all clinical sites meet program and accreditation standards (CAAHEP/JRCDMS) and works closely with clinical preceptors to monitor student progress, competency attainment, and professional development.

Please note that this position is an on ground position.

Key Responsibilities1. Clinical Coordination (50%)

• Site Management: Identify, evaluate, and maintain clinical affiliate sites to ensure a diverse and adequate volume of diagnostic examinations for students.
• Placement & Scheduling: Coordinate and supervise student clinical rotations, ensuring all students have equitable access to required clinical competencies.
• Compliance: Ensure all clinical education activities comply with the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS) and CAAHEP standards.
• Site Visits: Conduct regular site visits to evaluate student performance, assess the clinical environment, and provide support to clinical preceptors.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student clinical hours, competency evaluations, and background/health clearances required by clinical partners.

2. Instruction & Curriculum (40%)

• Didactic Teaching: Deliver lectures in assigned sonography courses (e.g., Physics, Cardiac, Echo or Vascular) using various instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles.
• Lab Supervision: Lead hands-on laboratory sessions, demonstrating proper scanning techniques, "knobology," and ergonomic safety.
• Student Assessment: Develop and administer exams and practical "check-offs" to measure student proficiency in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.
• Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the Program Director to review and update curriculum materials to reflect current industry trends and ARDMS/CCI exam content.

3. Administrative & Professional Duties (10%)

• Mentorship: Serve as an academic advisor to students, providing guidance on career paths and credentialing exams.
• Committee Participation: Participate in faculty meetings, advisory board sessions, and college-wide professional development.
• Accreditation Support: Assist the Program Director in preparing Self-Study Reports and documentation for continuing program accreditation.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Minimum of an Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred).
• Credentials: Must hold current ARDMS (RDMS, RVT) or CCI (RCS, RVS) credentials relevant to the program’s concentrations (e.g., Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Cardiac).
• Experience: * Minimum of 3 years of full-time professional experience as a registered sonographer.
• Prior experience as a clinical instructor, preceptor, or educator is highly preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in sonography scanning protocols, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both medical professionals and students.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive scanning motions.
• Ability to lift/move equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to clinical sites in Morgantown / Maryland area
