Laurel Civic Association is a long-standing nonprofit serving South Sarasota County through youth empowerment, education support, life-skills development, food security programs, and community partnerships. We are seeking a Youth Program Assistant to support daily operations of our after-school and teen programs and help ensure a safe, structured, and welcoming environment where youth can thrive.
About the RoleThe Youth Program Assistant provides essential administrative, operational, and direct support to Laurel Civic’s youth programs. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, compassionate, bilingual (English/Spanish), and passionate about empowering children and teens. The position reports to both the Director of Youth Programs and the Program Coordinator and collaborates closely with staff, volunteers, students, and families.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram & Family Support- Greet families, answer questions, and coordinate appointments with prospective students.
- Assist with student intake, enrollment, referrals, and waitlist management.
- Communicate scheduling updates, expectations, and reminders to parents.
- Support students with homework, reading, academic tasks, and enrichment activities.
- Recruit, schedule, and support on-site and off-site volunteers.
- Assist with volunteer onboarding and documentation.
- Track volunteer hours and help ensure a positive volunteer experience.
- Maintain and update program databases with accurate attendance and outcome data.
- Assist with preparing reports for grants, leadership, and program evaluation.
- Track membership fees and maintain organized records.
- Provide general administrative support, including copying, filing, scanning, and answering phones.
- Update program information on the website and assist with social media posts.
- Collect testimonials, survey responses, and family stories for marketing and reporting.
- Create simple flyers or announcements for programs and events.
- Assist with food distributions, fundraising events, and community outreach activities.
- Help maintain clean, organized, and sanitized program spaces.
- Support logistics for field trips, parent events, and special projects.

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Bilingual English/Spanish required.
- 1–3 years of administrative or youth program support experience.
- Strong accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with youth.
- Organized, dependable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and perform light physical tasks.
