Position: Donations Center Associate
Department: Donation Center
Status: Non-Exempt - Full Time 32 hours per week
Reports to: Facilities Director
About the Role
As the Donation Center Associate, you'll play a key role in keeping our donation center running smoothly and efficiently. You'll oversee daily operations, ensure high-quality donation processing, and lead a dynamic team of volunteers-all while supporting the mission of Laura's House to create positive change in our community.
You'll take the lead on sorting and distributing donations, coordinating shipments, all aspects of the donation center processing and ensure that every donor and volunteer has a meaningful and rewarding experience. You will engage volunteers and create a dynamic and positive experience to ensure their continued support.
What You'll Do
Donation ProcessingQuality Control:
- Oversee intake, sorting, and quality inspection and control of all donations.
- Prepare and track items for resale, shelter, or administrative use.
- Maintain accurate records of donation flow, KPIs, and inventory.
- Ensure all merchandise is handled and stored safely.
- Load bags/shipments into the truck and pods.
OperationsVolunteer Leadership:
- Lead, train, and inspire volunteers to achieve operational goals.
- Foster a welcoming, mission-driven environment where volunteers feel valued and engaged.
- Support scheduling, communication, and safety compliance.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
ShipmentLogistics:
- Coordinate and document all outgoing shipments to stores and facilities.
- Ensure deliveries and pickups are timely, accurate, and handled with care.
- Drive the box truck (similar to a U-Haul) when needed.
- Maintain vehicles and equipment in clean, safe working order.
Customer Service:
- Provide exceptional service to donors, customers, and community partners.
- Address questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Represent Laura's House with integrity and enthusiasm in every interaction.
What we are looking for:
- A hands-on leader who enjoys mentoring and inspiring volunteers and keeps operations running smoothly.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive with strong communication skills.
- Comfortable balancing logistics, people leadership, and a mission-driven mindset.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Requirements:
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Valid CA Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and move donations safely.
- Must pass background check and drug test.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook and online scheduling/tracking tools (e.g., vCita).
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, and using hands for handling objects.
- Required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and balance.
- Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds regularly.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
