Associate Gallery Director - Houston, TX


Requirements

  • MUST HAVE AT LEAST THREE YEARS EXPERIENCE IN FINE ART SALES AND FINE ART ADVISING
  • Ability to work one day a weekend
  • Ability to work evenings as needed (gallery appointments and exhibition openings)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fine art, emerging market trends, and collection management practices, with the ability to advise clients on acquisitions, collection development, and long-term stewardship of artworks.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Art inventory management systems (ArtCloud) and sales platforms (Artsy)
  • Excellent English Skills, both written and spoken
  • Must have Adobe Photoshop experience


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Preferred degree in Business, Fine Art Administration, Art History, or related field


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with collectors, interior designers, art advisors, and gallery clients.
  • Interface with gallery visitors, generate walk-in sales and respond to in-person and online sales inquiries
  • Collaborate with gallery leadership on sales strategy, business development and special projects
  • Obtain a deep understanding of represented artists and their practices to be able to respond to visitor queries in a high quality and thoughtful manner
  • Participate in artwork installations in residential and commercial settings
  • Coordinate with Operations Coordinator regarding shipping, receiving and maintaining artwork database integrity
  • Assist with planning and execution of exhibitions, opening receptions, VIP events and artist programming
  • Assist with gallery print and digital marketing efforts as needed
  • Routinely maintain the gallery space and reliably keep the gallery open during business hours

  • Bachelor's (Required)

  • Art Advising: 3-5 years (Preferred)
