What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floorhand position at Latshaw Drilling Company?

The Floorhand is responsible for safely and efficiently providing the manual skilled labor required to operate the equipment on the drilling rig floor and tasks on or about the drilling rig, supporting structures, and/or BOP area. This includes the operation of tongs, the use of drilling slips to assemble and disassemble drilling pipe, collars, and bottom hole assemblies, and the operation of hoists to raise/lower equipment and personnel, as well as hand tools, sledge hammers, and large pipe wrenches to maintain and repair equipment. The Floorhand participates in a variety of activities in repairing, maintaining, and cleaning the rig equipment. This may include chipping, the physical movement of equipment, the mixing of chemicals, and the greasing, oiling, and washing of equipment, walls, and floors. The tasks further include rig up and down procedures, offloading and backloading trucks, nipple up and down, care of the BOP system, and monitoring the operation of the shakers, return tanks, mud pits, and chemical sack area.
