What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at Latitude?
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a cross-functional engineering team supporting the design, development, and sustainment of advanced Communication Systems.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of undersea communication and power systems.
- Perform circuit design, mixedsignal analysis, and troubleshooting at the board and module level.
- Lead or support highvoltage DC power module design from a few watts to kilowatt converters.
- Conduct Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Develop specifications, requirements, and verification procedures for electronic systems.
- Utilize lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power meters for testing and troubleshooting.
- Support assembly and validation of circuit cards, modules, and subsystems in a lab environment.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
- Stay ahead of technology trends and contribute to research and development initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field and 5 years of relevant experience; OR
- Master's degree plus 3 years of experience.
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and circuit design.
- Experience with high voltage DC power systems and/or power electronics.
- Familiarity with CAD tools and mixedsignal circuit analysis.
- Handson troubleshooting and testing experience using specialized lab equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with fiber optics (transmitters, receivers, and optical components).
- Knowledge of isolated switching converters and power transmission systems.
- Experience building circuit boards, modules, and assemblies in a lab environment.
- Strong background in analog design, instrumentation, and schematic analysis.
- Familiarity with DoD systems, processes, or standards.
- Research & Development (R&D) experience with a focus on innovative electronic design.
- Agile development experience.
