This role is fully remote and part-time to start, with potential to transition to a full-time permanent position. The Senior IP/Patent Paralegal will play a critical role in establishing, managing, and improving the systems that protect the company’s competitive advantage globally. Reporting to in-house counsel and working closely with external counsel, the ideal candidate will provide comprehensive support for both domestic and international patent matters, ensuring seamless operations across a growing, fast-paced organization.

Key Responsibilities
Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $118,000 – $140,000 when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).
Benefits: In addition to pay, all Latitude contract professionals receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage. Latitude contract professionals are usually W2 employees of Latitude and are eligible for full benefits when working in roles for 20 hours per week. Benefits-eligible Latitude contract professionals receive complimentary Group Life, LTD and AD&D. A qualified 401k plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.

Key Responsibilities
- Patent Portfolio Management: Own and maintain the integrity of the global patent portfolio, managing all domestic (USPTO) and international patent filings, including utility, provisional, design, and PCT applications.
- Docketing & System Accuracy: Manage the IP docketing system with meticulous attention to deadlines (official actions, issue fees, annuities, and foreign filings) and maintain system integrity with zero tolerance for error.
- Process Development & Optimization: Design and implement scalable workflows for invention disclosure tracking, patent committee reviews, outside counsel coordination, and budget tracking—building IP management systems from the ground up.
- Filing & Prosecution Support: Prepare and file necessary prosecution documents with the USPTO and coordinate foreign filings through PCT applications and national phase entries.
- Budget & Invoice Management: Oversee payment of official fees, review and process external counsel invoices, and track expenditures to support IP budgeting and forecasting.
- Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison among internal R&D/Engineering teams, in-house counsel, and a global network of outside counsel and foreign associates.
- 8 years of experience as an IP/Patent Paralegal, including managing US and foreign patent prosecution.
- Experience in highly technical or regulated industries (e.g., energy, nuclear, aerospace, advanced manufacturing) is highly desirable.
- Expert proficiency with IP docketing software (e.g., Anaqua, CPI, Foundation IP) and strong command of USPTO filing procedures via EFS-Web/Patent Center.
- Demonstrated ability to build systems and processes from scratch, manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and operate independently.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a zero-tolerance approach to errors in documentation or deadlines.
