What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic I - 2nd Shift position at Latitude 36 Foods?
Shift: 2nd Shift
Schedule: 4:00 PM - 3:00 AM (Overtime and Weekends, as required)
Position Summary
Responsible for maintaining production equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Follows GMP’s and SOPs to ensure a safe and quality product. Assist with the disassembly and reassembly as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Electrical trouble shooting knowledge.
- Mechanical Aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Applicable technical certification.
- Food Manufacturing or packaging experience.
Responsibilities
- Ensure “Safety First” is always practiced and observes and adheres to all job safety rules.
- Adhere to all safety procedures including Machine Guarding, LOTO, IIPP, etc.
- Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
- Tests equipment to check operation. Tries out equipment after repairs or extended downtime.
- Checks product for visual and quality defects.
- Performs preventive maintenance and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.
- Examines machine issues, where possible, takes corrective action. Analyzes and records cause of production delays on daily shift report.
- Notifies maintenance department lead or supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed.
- Instructs and directs any maintenance trainees assigned.
- Abide by ALL Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SOPs.
- Responsible for reporting Food Defense observations to Quality Teams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
- Facility repairs as needed.
Physical Requirements/ Environment
- Capable of lifting, push, pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing walking, bending, twisting, lifting, climbing stairs.
- Normal vision, hearing sensitivity and manual dexterity is necessary in position.
