Under general direction, the Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all Company vehicles, equipment and has a direct reporting responsibility to the lead mechanic.
Responsibilities:
· Maintains records and performs preventive maintenance service on all fleet trucks, Company vehicles and equipment to include, but not limited to, oil changes, brake repairs, lubrication, etc.
· Performs repairs/overhauls as needed: injectors, A/C, differentials, transmissions, fuel lines, electrical, computer diagnostics, etc.
· Perform shop maintenance duties, parts ordering/purchasing/pick-up and maintains a high level of performance.
· Ensure end of month inventory and reporting is complete and on time.
· Closes shop each night after all crews have returned.
· Update truck files monthly.
· Maintain bulker and tanker at designated temperatures.
· Ensure that gasoline and diesel fuel pumps are operational at all times.
· Equip new and existing Company vehicles with required equipment.
· Equip new Company vehicles with tags, stickers, registrations and all required signs
· Perform repairs based on Driver Daily Reports (DVIR).
· Carry out specific work plans as assigned by management.
· All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
· High School diploma or GED preferred, with ITT or ASE certifications a plus.
· A minimum of five (5) years as a diesel mechanic with experience in fleet repairs
· CDL “A” driver’s license – Preferably (Must be able to drive Manual Transmission)
Requirements:
· Computer literate in Microsoft and department specific software with the ability to perform computer diagnostics and repairs..
· Plus if fluent in both English and Spanish in verbal and written skills
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
· Basic math skills, which include the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately and proficiently.
· Must be self-motivated and able to work in a high paced environment
· Ability to work independently and utilize creative thinking to troubleshoot problems and repairs
· Must be able to work with moderate noise, light traffic, cold, hot and humid weather.
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
· Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Physical Demands:
· Ability to: sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch and lay on back
· Frequent use of hand and fingers, climbing and the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to focus.
· Good command of speech and hearing required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
