About Us

Latimer House is a nonprofit historic house living museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the history and culture of our community. Through tours and special events, we connect visitors of all ages with our region's unique heritage.

Position Summary

The Executive Director serves as the museum's chief executive and is responsible for overall leadership, administration, financial management, fundraising, and community engagement. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director works closely with staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to advance the museum's mission and ensure long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the museum.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget.
  • Oversee financial reporting and organizational compliance.
  • Build relationships with donors, members, sponsors, and community partners.
  • Lead fundraising efforts, including grants, corporate and individual donations and special events.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers.
  • Work with the Board of Directors on strategic planning and governance.
  • Oversee museum tours, exhibits, create, implement and oversee programming, and visitor experience.
  • Ensure proper care of museum facilities and collections.
  • Represent the museum at community events and public meetings.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with CRM.
  • Experience managing budgets and personnel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated fundraising or grant-writing experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and community stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Experience in museums, historic sites, or cultural organizations.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance.
  • Experience with membership programs and donor relations.
  • Familiarity with collections management or public programming.
