Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing payroll administration and supporting core HR functions including employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, compliance, and HR operations. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time
- Maintain payroll records, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and tax filings
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
- Reconcile payroll reports and coordinate with Accounting on general ledger postings
- Administer employee onboarding and offboarding processes
- Maintain employee HRIS records
- Assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and open enrollment administration
- Serve as the primary contact for inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, policies and employee relations issues
- Update and maintain employee handbook and HR policies
- Assist with unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, and audits
- Assist with job postings, candidate coordination, and onboarding documentation
- Maintain I-9 compliance and required documentation
- Support audits and reporting as needed
- Support employee engagement and retention initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 3 years of experience in an HR Generalist role
- 2 years of hands-on payroll processing experience required
- Experience working with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, UKG, or similar)
- Experience working in a small or mid-sized organization strongly preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
