About this position:

We're looking for a Manager, Treasury to own the accuracy, integrity, and timely execution of Later's liquidity, customer funds, and creator disbursements. This role sits at the intersection of Treasury and Accounting: you'll manage cash forecasting, billing, and customer collections across multiple entities and banking platforms, and you'll make sure the numbers hold up. You'll partner closely with Accounting, FP&A, Systems Engineering, Data, and customer-facing teams, and you'll be the connection point between how money moves and how it's reported. This is a high-impact role for a proactive leader who is close to the work and enjoys untangling complexity, tightening controls, and driving issues to resolution. You'll directly support cash visibility, customer fund accuracy, and financial integrity across the company. We prefer candidates located on the East Coast, ideally in Boston.

This is a hybrid position based in Boston, MA with 3 days a week in office, or fully remote for candidates located on the East Coast of the United States.

What you'll be doing:

Cash Management

  • Own key aspects of the monthly financial close within strict timelines.
  • Prepare journal entries with clear, accurate supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and review monthly general ledger reconciliations on time, including cash, restricted cash, accounts receivable, and accrued campaign and incentive spend accounts.
  • Provide thoughtful commentary on monthly financial variance analysis.

General Ledger

  • Own key aspects of the monthly financial close within strict timelines.
  • Prepare journal entries with clear, accurate supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and review monthly general ledger reconciliations on time, including cash, restricted cash, accounts receivable, and accrued campaign and incentive spend accounts.
  • Provide thoughtful commentary on monthly financial variance analysis.

Audit & Risk Management

  • Coordinate external audits to ensure timely, successful delivery of results.
  • Own select balance sheet accounts, including restricted cash, accrued incentive funds, and certain COS accounts.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate accounting and financial reporting risks as they arise.
  • Lead department-wide cross-training and make sure backups exist for all treasury and accounts receivable functions.

Process Improvement

  • Drive adoption of new systems and processes that improve operational efficiency.
  • Review and recommend improvements to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to use technology, automation, and AI tools to make financial operations faster and more reliable.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with FP&A and customer-focused teams to resolve discrepancies, fix process inefficiencies, and speed up issue resolution.
  • Partner with Systems Engineering, Data, and Customer Service to build new reports and improve existing ones.
  • Collaborate with Systems and Data teams on new system implementations and integrations with our accounting environment.
  • Partner with Finance teammates on ad hoc projects and requests.

What success looks like:

  • Within your first 90 days, cash is forecast accurately across all entities, with clear visibility on a consolidated basis.
  • Customer collections are timely, and AR issues are surfaced and resolved quickly.
  • Reconciliations are complete, accurate, and on schedule every close.
  • By your first audit cycle, audits are delivered smoothly, with risks identified and addressed early.
  • Within 12 months, treasury and AR processes are more efficient, scalable, and controlled, with backups in place for every critical function.

What you bring:

We are committed to building an inclusive, supportive place for you to do the best and most rewarding work of your career. If you identify with any of the following, we encourage you to apply!

  • Based on the East Coast
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of treasury and general ledger accounting experience.
  • 3 years of people management experience
  • Experience managing teams and a track record of thriving in highly collaborative environments.
  • Strong accounting systems experience (NetSuite and Salesforce strongly preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail, with experience preparing multiple account reconciliations.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Stripe and Tipalti in a corporate environment is a plus.
  • Experience in the SaaS or technology industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience using Claude, ChatGPT, or other generative AI tools to improve analysis, research, reporting, or workflow efficiency is a plus.
  • CPA, CTP, or MBA is a plus.

How you work:

  • We will do whatever it takes to win: We win when our customers and creators win. We bring full commitment to outcomes that matter, not just effort.
  • We have no limit to our aspiration: We think big, push beyond what seems possible, and refuse to let conventional thinking set the ceiling.
  • We are relentless: We keep going. Through ambiguity, setbacks, and competing priorities, we find a way forward.
  • We deeply understand our business: If we don't have the knowledge, we figure it out. We take ownership of understanding how Later works and what drives results.
  • We take our work seriously, but not ourselves: We bring rigor and accountability without ego, and we make space for each other to do our best work.
