BUILDING INSPECTOR
LATAH COUNTY
Latah County has an exciting job opportunity for a Building Inspector to work as part of the Planning, Building & GIS Department team.
The building inspector/plans examiner performs plan reviews and inspections to determine compliance with applicable codes, enforces applicable county ordinances, conducts code research, completes paperwork and database entries, and works with builders and the public.
The position requires range of skills necessary to perform in a rural jurisdiction. The successful candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of the various principles and practices of building inspection, building construction and building design, including thorough knowledge of building, property maintenance, mechanical and fuel gas codes, math as applicable to building, and building codes. Candidates must be proficient with the use of computers for research, database management and use, document preparation, plan review/building calculation software, and inspection documentation. Candidates must possess excellent customer service, public relations skills, and tact. All applicants must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
The minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 1-year related experience, 6 months customer service experience, and ICC certifications in Residential Building and Mechanical Inspector within 3 months of hire.
This is a full-time position. The starting salary range is $24.57 to $27.84 depending on experience, education level, and certifications. This position has a full benefits package.
