JOB SUMMARY

The barback supports bartenders by keeping the bar stocked, clean, and running efficiently throughout service. This role involves restocking alcohol and supplies, preparing garnishes, maintaining cleanliness, and handling physically demanding tasks that ensure smooth bar operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

  • Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the shift.
  • Haul ice and keep ice bins filled; restock glassware and bar tools.
  • Change beer kegs and confirm proper line pressure before service resumes.
  • Prepare garnishes and ingredients such as citrus, cherries, and herbs.
  • Clean bar surfaces, spills, floor mats, and equipment to maintain a sanitary workspace.
  • Collect and wash empty glassware and return clean items to the bar.
  • Assist bartenders during busy periods, anticipating needs and supporting service flow.
  • Break down and clean the bar at closing, including waste disposal and restocking for the next shift.
  • Coordinate with managers, kitchen staff, and security to ensure smooth operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, especially nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong teamwork and communication with bartenders and service staff.
  • Attention to detail and strong work ethic.
  • Basic knowledge of bar operations (preferred but not required).
  • Age requirement: 18–21 depending on state alcohol laws.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift.
  • Lifting Fifty (50) pounds maximum.
  • Constant standing & walking required.
  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling.
