Position Summary
We are seeking a Defense Sales Manager – Capital Equipment to drive new business within the defense, aerospace, government, and related industrial markets.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience selling products, equipment, technology, or solutions to defense contractors, military organizations, government agencies, or defense-related manufacturers.
This is a hunter sales role. The successful candidate will be responsible for proactively developing new business, building a strong pipeline, identifying qualified opportunities, and managing complex sales cycles from initial contact through close.
Experience selling capital equipment, industrial equipment, manufacturing technology, automation, laser systems, or other technical products is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales strategies targeting defense contractors, government agencies, aerospace companies, and defense-related manufacturers
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through cold calling, outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, industry events, and trade shows
- Build and maintain relationships with defense and government customers, procurement teams, engineers, program managers, and key decision-makers
- Develop and manage a consistent pipeline of qualified defense and industrial opportunities
- Prospect for new accounts rather than relying primarily on inbound leads
- Conduct customer meetings, product demonstrations, technical presentations, and sales presentations
- Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate laser and capital equipment solutions
- Prepare proposals, quotations, presentations, and other sales materials
- Manage complex and potentially lengthy sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts while protecting company margins
- Maintain consistent follow-up throughout the sales process and after the sale
- Collaborate with engineering, applications, marketing, and customer support teams to develop customer solutions
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, pipeline activity, and reporting
- Monitor defense industry trends, competitor activity, government programs, and emerging technologies
- Travel as needed for customer meetings, demonstrations, trade shows, and industry events
Required Qualifications
Defense industry sales experience is required.
- Proven experience selling to the defense, aerospace, military, government, or defense manufacturing sectors
- 2 years of B2B sales experience; additional experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success generating new business and meeting or exceeding sales goals
- Strong hunter mentality with a proven ability to prospect and develop new accounts
- Experience managing complex B2B sales cycles
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to sell technical products, solutions, or equipment to multiple decision-makers
- Self-motivated, competitive, and results-oriented
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong CRM and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed
- Ability to work on-site in Lake Mary, Florida
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling capital equipment or industrial equipment
- Experience selling manufacturing technology, automation, robotics, laser systems, or other technical equipment
- Established relationships with defense contractors, aerospace companies, government agencies, or military-related organizations
- Experience working with defense procurement organizations or government purchasing processes
- Technical aptitude and ability to understand complex equipment and manufacturing applications
- Existing defense or aerospace customer network
- Experience selling products with longer sales cycles and higher transaction values

Defense industry sales experience is a mandatory requirement for this position. Candidates without direct defense industry sales experience will not be considered.
Laser Photonics is seeking candidates who are currently located in the United States, are authorized to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship, and are able to work on-site in Lake Mary, Florida. No relocation package is offered.
