Job Title: Associate CIO
Division: Administration and Finance Department: Information Technology

Employment Status: Full Time/Calendar Year
JOB SUMMARY:
The Associate Chief Information Officer (Associate CIO) provides senior leadership and hands‑on technical expertise for Lasell's information technology environment, ensuring responsive, reliable technology services for faculty, staff, and students. Reporting to the CFO/COO, this role serves as a working technology leader, responsible for the reliability, security, and day‑to‑day operation of campus technology and software while leading and supporting a collaborative IT team. The position may require participation in on-call coverage and occasional after-hours work to support critical incidents, planned maintenance, and major campus events. A hybrid work schedule may be available in accordance with institutional policy and with approval from the reporting authority.
This position is ideal for a leader who enjoys being directly involved in infrastructure design, troubleshooting, and implementation while helping align IT services with the institution’s academic and administrative mission.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Manage, mentor, and develop staff of the Information Technology (IT) Department by setting clear goals, assessing results and fostering a “can-do” attitude.
- Manage and oversee the performance, scope, and accountability of the institution’s Managed Service Provider (MSP), ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and service expectations.
- Oversee cybersecurity operations, risk management, and business continuity/disaster recovery planning.
- Collaborate with academic and administrative stakeholders to ensure technology services support institutional goals.
- Support and advance the teaching, learning, and administrative experience by delivering high-quality technology services and support to faculty, staff, and students.
- Guide infrastructure upgrades, lifecycle planning, and security initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Manage IT budgets, vendors, and operations.
- Ensure communication of major system issues and policy changes
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide occasional after-hours support, as needed, to ensure timely response to critical incidents and scheduled maintenance.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE JOB:
Education level: Master's degree in computer science, information systems, MBA, or equivalent
Technology skills:
Extensive (10 years) experience in enterprise information technology environments, including:
- Leadership and hands‑on oversight of enterprise network, server, and cloud infrastructure, including Microsoft platforms, virtualization, backup and disaster recovery, and hybrid environments.
- Strong background in cybersecurity operations, risk management, incident response, and identity and access management.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, identity services (Active Directory/Entra ID), email systems, endpoint management, and system integrations.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues and serve as an escalation resource for critical incidents.
- Experience with infrastructure planning, lifecycle management, and technology modernization within budgetary constraints.
- Experience overseeing vendors and managed service providers and ensuring service quality and accountability.
