Data Engineer
LaSalle Network is partnering with our client to hire a Data Engineer to design and build scalable data solutions across complex program areas. This Data Engineer role is based in Dallas, Texas, in a hybrid work environment. In this contract opportunity, the Data Engineer will step into an entrepreneurial, mission-driven setting where you'll own ambiguous data problems end to end-partnering directly with subject-matter experts to translate needs into reliable data models, pipelines and systems. It's an exciting chance to help shape and scale a modern data platform while making measurable impact through data.
Responsibilities
Design, build and maintain batch ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest, clean and transform diverse datasets into a lakehouse
Develop scalable data models and reusable, standardized data structures across multiple inconsistent data sources
Operate and monitor scheduled jobs and workflows, including data quality checks, validation and alerting
Troubleshoot data pipelines, identify root causes and implement sustainable improvements to reliability and performance
Partner with technical and nontechnical stakeholders to define requirements, clarify data definitions and translate needs into system designs
Contribute to platform standards, documentation and best practices (including governance and access policies)
Qualifications
Professional experience in data engineering, data modeling and production ETL/ELT development
Hands-on experience with Databricks (or a comparable modern lakehouse/Spark platform with the ability to ramp quickly)
Strong SQL and Python skills
Experience designing solutions for messy, heterogeneous external datasets and improving data quality and consistency
Working knowledge of data governance and access control concepts (cataloging, permissions, principals/groups); Unity Catalog experience is a plus
Experience with version control and collaborative development practices (Git/GitHub)

Compensation: $50 - $60 hourly (W2)
