Armory/Key Control

M-F 8:00-4:00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate records of all permanently issued keys to personnel.

Track and document all keys checked in and out of central control on a daily basis.

Perform routine maintenance on keys and key rings.

Issue new keys and maintain detailed records of all additions.

Remove obsolete or unused keys and document all changes accordingly.

Maintain accurate inventory records of all keys stored in the armory.

Ensure the safe handling, storage, and accountability of all firearms, chemical agents, and ammunition.

Maintain and update the armory equipment issuance log.

Verify staff authorization and certification prior to issuing firearms or chemical agents.

Prepare and maintain reports, logs, and documentation in accordance with company standards.

Model and promote appropriate behavior, reinforcing positive interactions and addressing inappropriate conduct.

Maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property while adhering to all safety protocols.

Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role, as determined by management.

Required Knowledge Skills/Abilities:

Must have working knowledge of firearms, firearm safety, and key control procedures

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Valid driver’s license, where applicable.

Locksmith certification preferred.

Minimum of two (2) years of related experience preferred.

Successful completion of required training and on-the-job instruction in accordance with company standards.

Repetitive climbing of stairs to reach the assigned areas and working at heights

Occasional kneeling, squatting, and bending to perform “pat” or “strip” searches

Frequent grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting

Occasionally responding to altercations and occasional restraining and securing assaultive offenders

Ability to respond rapidly to potential security and/or medical codes/issues

Frequent transferrers and transporting offenders by walking or riding in various vehicles such as vans, buses, and other forms of transportation

Continuous periods of operating/driving company vehicles to pick up and transport offenders

Remaining awake and alert while on duty

Occasional lifting and carrying

Ability to occasionally withstand direct or indirect exposure to OC spray

Ability to hear and understand verbal communication.
