Cashroom Clerk

Position Summary

The Cashroom Clerk is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of all cash-handling operations. This position verifies cashier drops and daily pulls, reconciles deposits, balances credit card transactions, and ensures all financial documentation aligns with company and tribal policies. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong math and organizational skills, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment. The Cashroom Clerk also supports customer service needs, assists with register operations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Verifies cashier bags, cash drops and day-end pulls.
• Counts money in safe and prepares bags for cashiers’ registers.
• Orders change from bank and makes change for cashiers.
• Reviews credit card purchases, voids, checks and coupons to verify total cash received.
• Prepares day-end reports and reconciles revenue to cash, credit cards, coupons and checks.
• Prepares and verifies bank deposits daily for all Departments.
• Prints all day-end reports.
• Balances all credit card transactions and prepares any voids or credits as adjustments.
• Answers cashier’s questions and assists with computer problems.
• Assists with customer service when in the store.
• Assists other departments when requested on the register.
• Keeps work area stocked and clean.
• Covers shifts for other clerks as needed.
• Follows all company policies, cash-handling procedures, and safety protocols
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of Cash handling, Retail, or customer service experience; prior experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
• Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) and inventory management systems.
• Strong organizational, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with a focus on customer service.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be at least 21 years of age (per federal and tribal regulations governing tobacco/vape sales).
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods of time.
• Frequently required to bend, reach, lift, or move objects up to 25 pounds.
• Frequent repetitive hand movements and manual dexterity to operate registers, calculators, and scanners.
• Visual and auditory ability to observe and communicate with customers and team members effectively.
• Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• May be required to work varied shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Work Schedule

• Full-time, Part-time hourly position; schedule varies based on business needs.
• May include nights, weekends, and holidays.
