POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

The Kitchen Technician performs preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on kitchen equipment and appliances, including refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting and related systems throughout the buildings as directed by management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform routine to complex maintenance and repairs on kitchen and refrigeration equipment, boilers, compressors, generators and other mechanical equipment powered by electricity, natural gas, air, water or steam.
  • Provide feedback on equipment condition, maintenance programs, and capital replacement needs.
  • Complete all assigned jobs, including work orders and required documentation, accurately and on time.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all mechanical equipment and oversee preventative maintenance programs for kitchen equipment.
  • Operate power, hand, and diagnostic tools, (e.g., multimeters, amp meters, compound and pressure gauges) to troubleshoot energy sources, diagnose issues, and complete repairs.
  • Read and apply blueprints and wiring schematics to install and service electrical components.
  • Understand the layout of the property, including convention spaces, meeting rooms, kitchens, and equipment rooms.
  • Walk daily routes, perform needed repairs, and notify the Shift Supervisor of unusual conditions on property.
  • Maintain required certifications and licenses and stay current on techniques and technical methods.
  • Maintain awareness of cleanliness, safety, and accident prevention, including consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education And Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED required; advanced technical education, degree or certifications preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience with mechanical equipment (kitchen, refrigeration, boilers, generators, compressors, etc.), preferably in hospitality or a similar environment.
  • Current knowledge of trade-specific materials, tools, instrumentation, equipment, building and safety codes, and safe work practices.
  • Ability and willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Works well in a team; self-driven, reliable, and able to work under pressure.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with sound judgement and effective listening.
  • Ability to operate ariel lifts, when necessary, in compliance with safety standards.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to communicate with staff, business contacts, and guests.
  • General mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Basic computer and software skills with Microsoft Office Suite; CMMS (Maximo) work tracking experience preferred.


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

  • Must obtain an OSHA certification to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, scissor lifts and other vehicles in the department within 90 days of hire
  • Must have EPA 608 Universal Refrigeration Certification
  • Must have a valid Nevada driver’s license at the time of appointment and maintain it during employment
  • Technical school or completed apprenticeship in a related trade preferred
  • Journeyman or master certification in plumbing and electrical preferred
  • Backflow preventer tester certification preferred

This position is expected to deliver the best customer service to internal and external customers through reactive and proactive assistance. Ensure information is efficiently and expeditiously relayed to exceed client expectations and support the mission of the LVCVA.

Further expectations include ensuring compliance with and demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of established rules, policies, procedures and regulations. Management is also expected to provide tools necessary for achieving safety to include time and budget.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an ambassador to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The individual in this position must be able to have the mobility to work in a typical engineering setting, e.g., in and around office buildings, commercial facilities, exterior grounds that house electrical equipment and wiring, HVAC equipment, and plumbing fixtures, including hot, cramped spaces such as electrical and mechanical equipment rooms. The ambassador must be able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, balance and crawl, and have the dexterity of hands and feet. They must have the strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with proper equipment, the ability to distinguish color, size, shape and temperature, the ability to work in high, precarious places and all climates, and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

The individual must be able to use standard office equipment, including a computer, and able to read and distinguish color on printed materials and a computer screen. They must be able to hear and communicate in person via telephone and radio. They must be able to drive a vehicle to various work locations.
