The Server / bartender ensures that guest have an enjoyable dining experience by providing quality customer service. Servers work in the front of the business taking orders and serving food and drinks in a friendly and timely manner.
Servers are responsible for upselling and providing positive guest interactions while serving and play an integral role in ensuring our customers have exceptional dining experiences. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guests' needs, making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed. Those who are selected as server / bartenders will also be responsible for following house recipes and also competently prepare industry-known standard drinks for guests.
The right person will be passionate about food and service and thoroughly enjoy creating excellent experiences for our customers. The ideal candidate will have a friendly, outgoing disposition and previous experience working as a server in a bustling, fast-paced restaurant setting.
Specific Responsibilities
- Greet guests and serve them in a polite friendly manner
- ID all guests who appear to be under 30 years old (if ordering alcohol)
- Have and maintain knowledge of beer, wine, cocktail recipes, prices and menu items offered
- Have and maintain knowledge of food menu, recipes, ingredients, allergens, and garnishes
- Communicate efficiently with management, bar staff, support staff, and guests
- Tender payments with receipts for all purchases; keep track of checkbook, cash, and signed sales slips
- Have and maintain working knowledge of the POS (Aloha) to correctly complete transactions efficiently and minimize mistakes
- Complete opening, running, and closing side-work duties
- Stay up to date on seasonal or special drinks/menu
- Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a polite, professional, and calm composure
- Setup and breakdown of restaurant
- Work as a team. One team, one dream.
- Monitor guests for intoxication and stop service responsibly
Additional Information / Requirements
- Spanish speaking a strong plus
- A valid CA Food Handlers' certification and RBS are required prior to beginning work
- This is a part-time position
- Must be available to work in the daytime, evenings, on weekends, and during holidays - minimum 3 days' per week availability is required
- Prior experience in the same or a similar position required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Pay is hourly plus tips
