Job Summary And Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assumes the responsibility for performing phlebotomy skills appropriately and efficiently, under the philosophy, policies and procedures established by the hospital and the laboratory department. Performs general clerical duties and minor technical duties as assigned
POPULATION SERVED:
Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served (with exception of newborns): All diagnoses/conditions of patients admitted to the hospital.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Required Licensure/Certifications
No required licensure/certifications.
Required Education/Experience
High School diploma or GED required. Must have a minimum of three years verifiable phlebotomy experience.
Preferred Education, Licensure, Certification, Experience, Skills, Knowledge And Abilities
Must possess leadership abilities. Preferred phlebotomy training certification from an accredited agency. Exhibit proficiency in all of the following: blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, pediatric blood collections, difficult draws. Possess the ability and skills necessary to provide orientation and training for patient service technicians.
Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
Ability to relate professionally with people, motivate others, organizational skills, time management, train employees, written and verbal communications, supervisory skills. Excellent customer service skills, knowledge of venipuncture techniques. Leadership abilities.

- Demonstrates ability to perform A.I.D.E.T. customer service 100% of the time.
- Is able to operate the iSTAT and glucometer as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
