Duties
- Greet guests warmly and provide attentive, personalized service throughout their dining experience
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, and relay orders promptly to the kitchen and bar staff
- Process sales transactions efficiently, including cash handling, credit card processing, and managing tabs with POS systems like OpenTable
- Upsell menu items such as specialty cocktails, wines, or desserts to enhance guest satisfaction and increase sales
- Serve food and beverages with professionalism, including spirits service and beverage presentation, ensuring proper food handling and sanitation standards are maintained
- Assist with bussing tables, cleaning work areas, and resetting tables to ensure a smooth flow of service
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of menu offerings, including wine knowledge and cocktail recipes, to answer guest questions confidently
- Support guest relations by resolving concerns promptly and ensuring a positive dining experience at all times
Skills
- Proven experience in food service or restaurant environments, preferably in fine dining settings
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS, Micros POS, and OpenTable for order entry and sales processing
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage guests warmly and professionally
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tables efficiently during busy hours
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to upsell menu items effectively using sales techniques like suggestive selling
- Basic math skills for processing transactions accurately and managing cash handling responsibilities
- Experience with cocktail preparation, spirits knowledge, wine pairing, and beverage service is highly desirable
- Previous host/hostess or bussing experience is a plus for supporting overall restaurant operations
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
