What are the responsibilities and job description for the Calendar Clerk/Secretary position at Larson, Larson & Dauer, A Law Corporation?
About the Firm
Our firm has been proudly serving clients for over 40 years. We are a family-owned and family-run practice focused on workers’ compensation. We value long-term relationships with our clients, colleagues, and even opposing counsel. We take pride in providing steady guidance for our clients through a complex and often frustrating system.
Position Overview
With the shift to remote and telephonic proceedings following COVID-19, much of our work, including court appearances, is now conducted by phone. Unlike pre-COVID practice, when attorneys could physically appear at the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and manage multiple matters at once, telephonic appearances require far more coordination and organization.
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented individual to support our attorneys by managing calendars, scheduling and rescheduling appointments, depositions, and meetings, and handling other administrative tasks as needed. This position will also involve answering phone calls, managing emails, and assisting wherever necessary to keep the practice running smoothly.
Skills and Qualities
Strong people skills are essential. This role requires the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships, not only with coworkers, but also with clients and defense attorneys. While the workers’ compensation system can be challenging (and at times frustrating), we strive to help our clients navigate it with clarity and care.
Many of our professional relationships span 30–40 years. We believe it is possible to vigorously advocate for our clients, while maintaining respectful and amicable working relationships with opposing counsel.
Client-Focused Mindset
Most of our new cases come from referrals by current and former clients, making client satisfaction critical to our success. Our clients are often injured, struggling financially, or waiting for medical treatment. Understandably, they may call feeling upset or overwhelmed. The ability to listen patiently, show empathy, and remain professional, even when clients need to “vent”, is essential.
Compensation and Growth
Starting pay for this position is approximately $20 per hour, with significant opportunity for growth based on performance, experience, and long-term commitment. We invest substantial time and resources in training our employees and are looking for someone interested in building a career with our firm, not just a job.
