What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Engineer position at Lars Andersen & Associates, Inc.?
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of progressive Design Experience in Land and Site Development and at least 2 years of representing projects before approval authorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree from accredited University in Civil Engineering
- PE license in California
- Minimum 4 years of progressive design experience in land and site development, particularly in preparing plans and design production, preparation of site plan and subdivision applications.
- Minimum 2 years of representing projects before approval authorities, such as planning boards, zoning boards, city councils, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Team player and initiator who wants to help grow a Civil Engineering Department with potential future opportunities as Senior Management
- Strong AutoCAD 3D knowledge, and the ability to design with it
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience working with private development projects and versed in attaining agency approvals with municipalities, state, and federal entities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to read, write, speak & comprehend English
- Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screen
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
- Participates in department and interdepartmental planning and management teams and works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization.
- Confers with Client, Contractors and other engineers to clarify and resolve problems; prepares design modifications, as appropriate.
- Develops scope of work.
- Prepares status reports and modifies schedules or plans as required.
- Acts as a liaison with other departments, divisions, and organizations.
- Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
- Identifies and obtains team capabilities needed to accomplish project objectives.
- Balances planning efforts with day to day demands
