Senior Accountant

About the Opportunity

A well-established and growing specialty finance company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its close-knit finance team. This is a highly visible role that offers broad exposure across accounting, finance, operations, and executive leadership. Reporting directly to the Controller and CFO, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting financial reporting, month-end close, audit activities, and business operations while helping drive process improvements across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Maintain and analyze key accounting records, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger accounts
• Prepare account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy
• Assist with annual audits and various tax-related matters, including corporate, sales, property, and income tax support
• Create, maintain, and present data-intensive reports and financial analyses for management
• Serve as a key finance contact for customer agreements and support external communications related to financial matters
• Partner closely with the Controller and CFO on financial reporting, operational initiatives, and strategic projects
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and help strengthen internal controls and reporting capabilities
• Support ad hoc projects and special analyses as the business continues to grow

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Public accounting experience is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems
• Exposure to lending, leasing, financial services, or asset-based businesses is a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with employees, customers, and senior leadership
• Self-starter who takes ownership and enjoys working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
