POSITION SUMMARY
The Finishing Lead (Folder Gluer / Inkjet Lead) oversees and performs hands-on production work across folding, gluing, inkjet addressing, and related finishing operations. This role is responsible for setting up and running folder gluer and inkjet equipment, leading a small crew, and ensuring jobs are completed accurately, on time, and to customer specifications. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical aptitude with leadership skills and a commitment to quality.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Set up, operate, and adjust folder gluer equipment for a variety of folding, gluing, and converting jobs
- Set up and run inkjet addressing and variable data printing systems accurately and efficiently
- Lead and coordinate a production crew, assigning tasks, monitoring output, and maintaining workflow
- Read and interpret job tickets, customer specifications, blueprints, and production schedules
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, make adjustments, and perform minor repairs to minimize downtime
- Monitor material usage and coordinate with warehouse/inventory for stock replenishment
- Communicate with supervisors, customer service, and other departments to clarify job requirements and resolve issues
- Train, mentor, and develop team members on equipment operation, safety, and quality standards
- Maintain accurate production records, including job tracking, waste logs, and time reporting
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, including PPE requirements and housekeeping standards
- Support die cutting, foil stamping, embossing, and other finishing operations as needed
- Assist with preventive maintenance schedules and equipment inspections
- Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste
- Participate in pre-production planning meetings and contribute to workflow scheduling
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of finished goods for shipping
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3 to 5 years of experience in print finishing, bindery, or converting operations (folder gluer experience strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to set up and run folder gluer equipment (Bobst, Brausse, or equivalent preferred)
- Experience with inkjet addressing/variable data systems preferred
- Proven leadership or crew lead experience in a production environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, blueprints, and customer specifications
- Proficiency with production tracking systems and basic computer skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities under tight deadlines
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Fast-paced manufacturing/production floor environment; PPE required
- Prolonged standing on concrete; frequent bending, stooping, and reaching
- Repetitive hand and arm motions; manual dexterity for equipment setup and adjustment
- Regular lifting up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs (with assistance for heavier loads)
- Exposure to noise, dust, adhesives, and printing-related materials
