Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Monitor Tech (EKG) to join our dynamic Telemetry/Medical Surgical Department. The ideal candidate will have experience in cardiac monitoring and a strong understanding of EKG interpretation. As a Monitor Tech, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the continuous observation of patients’ cardiac rhythms, assisting in the early detection of arrhythmias, and supporting the clinical team in delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously monitor patients’ cardiac rhythms via telemetry and EKG equipment.
- Report significant arrhythmias or changes in patient status to the nursing staff and physicians promptly.
- Assist in the placement, removal, and maintenance of telemetry and EKG leads and equipment.
- Maintain and calibrate telemetry and EKG machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely patient data.
- Provide clear and accurate documentation of monitoring activities and observations.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times.
- Participate in department meetings and ongoing training as required.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or vocational training in a related field preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus.
- Certification in EKG/Telemetry monitoring (e.g., Certified EKG Technician or equivalent) preferred.
- Proven experience as a Monitor Tech or in a similar role within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac rhythms, arrhythmias, and EKG interpretation.
- Proficient in the use of telemetry and EKG equipment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to report critical information clearly.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
