Overview

At Larimer County Department of Human Services, we strive to be responsive and provide timely resources in partnership with our community so individuals and families are healthy, supported, and safe. We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic staff member to join our Child, Youth, Family & Adult Protective Services (CYFA) Division as a Social Caseworker Manager.

The Social Caseworker Manager position involves supervising, training, coaching, supporting, and overseeing Intake Specialists, Administrative Specialists, and occasionally Juvenile Justice Caseworkers and After Hours workers. The supervisor will help ensure Intake Specialists can receive, document, and process child and adult protection referrals for Larimer County. This position performs its duties primarily during business hours, with occasional after-hours support.

The schedule varies day to day, and this position is expected to work outside regular business hours as needed.

This position performs its duties primarily during business hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday), with occasional after-hours support. This is a hybrid position and requires at least one day/week in the office. You must have adequate internet access and space for remote work. Larimer County provides a one-time remote work stipend to assist with equipment and office supply needs for remote workspaces. You must submit three professional references with valid contact information as part of this application.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing direct and indirect supervision to intake specialists taking child protection calls.
  • Provid ing direct and indirect supervision to Administrative Specialists.
  • Supporting juvenile justice workers and after-hours caseworkers.
  • Screening child protection and adult protection referrals for quality assurance and timely response.
  • Collaborat ing with child protection and service teams, community partners, and other child welfare counties.
  • Schedul ing and managing day-to-day shifts of intake specialists.
  • Providing support for ongoing crisis management. Support ing After Hours/On-Call shifts 1x per month and occasional holidays.
  • Provid ing mediation and crisis intervention services to juveniles and families.
  • Support ing juvenile justice functions.

What We're Looking For

  • Have a thorough understanding of County and State regulations, as well as Social Services policies and procedures related to providing exceptional service in mandated reporting, social casework, and child welfare screening.
  • Be experienced in handling major changes in work responsibilities and adjusting effectively to new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures. Candidates must be open to change and adapt quickly to changes and new approaches within the work environment.
  • Demonstrate expertise as a self-starter with strong leadership skills and a demonstrated willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions or direction.
  • Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Have outstanding analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to think logically and arrive at sound conclusions. Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Have solid organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and accomplish multiple projects simultaneously; readily readjust priorities to respond aptly to pressing and changing demands.
  • Provide timely guidance and feedback to lead and develop staff with the knowledge/skills needed to accomplish work.
  • Possess exceptional typing and computer skills.

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

  • Bachelor's Degree from a higher education institution with coursework related to the job responsibilities of child welfare social casework supervisor. Coursework examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques.
  • Three (3) years of professional, internship, or volunteer work experience in a human services-related agency. A Master's degree or higher in a social work or human behavioral sciences field can substitute for one (1) year of professional, internship, or volunteer work experience in a human services-related agency.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire.
