Overview

Join the Larimer County Solid Waste Department as a Roll-Off Truck Driver!

In this role, you will operate a commercial roll-off truck to transport solid waste and recyclables to the landfill or transfer station. You’ll secure loads, complete required documentation, follow all safety and environmental regulations, and perform basic vehicle maintenance.

The typical schedule for this position is 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

What we're looking for:

• Operate a commercial roll-off truck to transport waste or recycling containers to and from various locations, landfills, and transfer stations.
• Load and unload roll-off containers using hydraulic controls.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Follow all DOT (Department of Transportation), OSHA, and county safety regulations.
• Inspect containers for damage and reports or repairs.
• Report any mechanical issues or safety hazards immediately.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, trip reports, and weight tickets.
• Document container deliveries, pickups, and service issues.

What We're Looking For

• Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
• Routine software and business applications including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, virtual collaboration and meeting software, and databases.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
• Consistent, predictable attendance.
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle operation and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Understanding of transfer station and landfill operations.
  
  

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

• Possession of a valid driver's license by date of hire is required
• Possession of, and ability to maintain a class 'B' commercial driver license (CDL) required.
• Tanker Endorsement (N) by date of hire required.
• Two (2) years of experience in commercial, waste hauling, or similar heavy vehicle driving required.
