Larimer County is seeking an experienced Colorado licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician with residential and commercial experience to fill a full time position as an Electrical Inspector in the Building Division. Responsibilities
What you'll be doing:
- Inspects residential, commercial, agricultural, and other buildings and structures during construction for compliance with approved plans, the National Electrical Code, and related ordinances.
- Reads and interprets construction plans to determine that construction is in compliance with the approved plans and the electrical code.
- Reviews submitted plans and specifications for compliance with adopted codes. Confers with owners, contractors, architects, and engineers; explains and interprets requirements and restrictions of the electrical codes.
- Coordinates and routes out daily inspections to be most efficient and effective.
- Maintains computer records of field inspections; prepares written reports and correspondence.
- Assists with other building inspections as assigned by the Lead Building Inspector.

- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
- Scope and application of the National Electrical Code.
- Proper inspection techniques to examine the quality of work and materials, and detect deviations from plans, regulations, and standard construction practices.
- Principles and practices of building construction and electrical systems, safety standards, and accepted methods and materials of construction.
- Scope and application of county and state laws and regulations pertaining to building and electrical codes and ordinances, code enforcement, zoning, and general land use.
- Provide professional customer service to clients and public.
- Perform duties independently without close supervision.

- High School diploma or GED required.
- Three (3) years of experience as a journey-level electrician or higher required.
- Possession of current Colorado license as a Journeyman or Master Electrician required.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
- Possession of additional ICC certifications preferred.
