Position Summary

As a Server Assistant, you will play an important role in creating a polished and memorable dining experience for our members and guests. Working closely with servers and the culinary team, you will help ensure each service runs smoothly, efficiently, and with genuine hospitality. From maintaining a pristine dining room to anticipating guest needs, your work will reflect the standards of excellence that define the Larchmont Yacht Club.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist servers in all stages of service, ensuring each guest receives prompt and attentive attention.
• Support the setup, breakdown, and restocking of the dining room and service stations before, during, and after shifts.
• Maintain accurate timing for clearing and marking tables between courses.
• Deliver fresh table settings, bread, and water service as outlined in the Club’s service standards.
• Maintain familiarity with the Club’s menu, including ingredients, preparation styles, and presentation, to assist servers and communicate effectively with members.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of wines, cocktails, and nonalcoholic beverages served in the dining room.
• Keep all dining areas clean, organized, and visually appealing throughout service.
• Communicate clearly and courteously with servers, hosts, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth coordination of orders.
• Complete daily opening, mid-shift, and closing duties, following assigned side work and checklists.
• Greet and thank members with warmth and professionalism to help create a positive and lasting impression.

Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in fine dining or upscale hospitality preferred.
• Valid food handler’s permit and alcoholic beverage certification, or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a friendly, professional demeanor.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
• Physical stamina to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and handle repetitive motions.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
