Responsibilities
- Seeks and accepts guidance from Supervisor while maintaining appropriate communication and facilitating teamwork.
- Works in respectful, supportive and collaborative ways with interdisciplinary team, exhibiting professional and ethical behavior.
- Maintains and cleans exam rooms, lab, and equipment following infection control guidelines including but not limited to autoclave, microscope, and testing supplies.
- Maintains and updates SDS binder.
- Rooms patients, charts patient vitals, sets up for procedures and notifies appropriate team member(s) that the patient is ready in exam room.
- Ensures proper paperwork is completed by the patient for appropriate referrals (ARCH/WBCC).
- Forwards patient calls/questions to appropriate personnel and returns patient calls as directed.
- Accurately and timely documents information in the Electronic Health Record.
- Assists Provider in exam room as directed.
- Maintains appropriate inventory supply levels and submits order requests to the ED as necessary.
- Performs Point of Care testing, handles specimens and performs phlebotomy.
- Ensures all patient’s questions are answered satisfactorily and distributes educational materials prior to checkout.
- Documents positive test results in RedCap.
- Escorts patient to the lobby for checkout after visit is completed.
- Ensures federal and state compliance with laws related to patients’ rights.
- Maintains patient and organization confidentiality, as required by HIPAA.
- Covers front of office as needed on limited basis by greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and other duties as directed.
- Uploads/updates programs in CUREMD.
- Orients volunteers to patient appointment procedures.
- Assists with billing/coding accuracy.
- Troubleshoots challenges with EHR/attends meetings with CUREMD Staff.
- Adjust the sliding fee scale when there are changes.
- Completes lab inventory and ensures ED reviews and signs off for ordering.
- Manages vaccine requirements, administers injections and dispenses medication as directed by Provider.
- Patient advocacy to Labcorp and HealthTx
- Order, send out, and respond to lab results.
- Call in prescriptions for providers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
Qualifications
- Highschool graduate.
- Certificate/License: Current Certification as a Medical Assistant through on of the following programs is preferred (RMA, AAMA, NCCT, CMAC, AMCA).
- Two (2) years of working as a Medical Assistant within a healthcare outpatient clinic setting preferred.
- Must have current and valid BLS certification.
- Understanding of HIPAA, Title X and other compliance laws.
- Ability to pass a background information check.
- Passion for reproduction and equity rights.
Physical Requirements
- Stand, walk and be able to maneuver in small areas.
- Possess gross and fine motor skills
- Occasionally sit, bend, or kneel.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
At will position, full or part-time as advertised.
Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
