School Support Aide

Description

This position is a School Support Aide position. This position requires patience and respect for children, the ability to encourage students to be independent in activities they are capable of completing, and the willingness to support the daily needs of the school community. The ideal candidate will be dependable, flexible, calm, and willing to assist with classroom support, lunch and recess supervision, student transitions, and general school support.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Classroom Support Aide shall:

Provide general classroom support to teachers and students throughout the school day.

Assist students with classroom routines, transitions, work completion, and maintaining a respectful learning environment.

Support small groups or individual students as directed by the lead teacher or School Director/Principal.

Help maintain a calm, safe, organized, and welcoming school environment.

Supervise students during lunch and recess, including helping students follow school expectations and supporting positive peer interactions.

Support arrival, dismissal, hallway transitions, bathroom breaks, and other daily routines as needed.

Guide students with patience, respect, and consistency while encouraging independence, responsibility, and grace and courtesy.

Assist teachers in preparing, organizing, and maintaining classroom materials and learning spaces.

Help with general school support tasks, which may include copying, organizing supplies, cleaning up shared spaces, preparing materials, and assisting with schoolwide activities.

Support student safety by actively monitoring students during structured and unstructured times.

Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, staff, families, and other members of the school community.

Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, staff, and school matters.

Follow required procedures and practices set forth by the school.

Be calm and respectful, peaceful and nurturing, and consistently help provide an atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.

Assist with class projects, field trips, guest speakers, school events, and other experiential activities as needed.

Other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or the School Director/Principal.

PREFERRED/REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, coaching, or similar setting is preferred.Holder of a Wyoming substitute teaching permit and/or one year of classroom experience is preferred. Montessori experience is preferred; however, we will train the right person. The ideal candidate will be reliable, flexible, patient, professional, and willing to help wherever needed.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:

The Classroom Support Aide works collaboratively with classroom teachers, support staff, and the School Director/Principal to support the daily operations of the school. Job duties may include assisting in classrooms, supporting student routines, monitoring lunch and recess, helping with transitions, organizing materials, and providing general support throughout the school day.The Classroom Support Aide is expected to support the Montessori teaching method by encouraging independence, respectful behavior, peaceful problem-solving, and student responsibility. This position helps foster a nurturing, safe, and organized environment for students during both classroom and non-classroom times.
