What are the responsibilities and job description for the ELL Parent Translator Contactor position at LARAMIE COUNTY SD #2?
Reports To: Building Principal
SUMMARY
The successful candidate will provide translation services between the school and parents to help perform essential functions of the school. This person will work with the district as an independent contractor and be subject to all of the expectations and requirements laid out in the contract. The position will be on an “as needed” basis, with some times during the school year requiring more time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all interactions with students, their parents, and the school.
- May work in several buildings and drive to different schools.
- Provide translation services for parent meetings and conferences before, during, or after the school day.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Language Skills: Ability to speak, read, and write with students who speak a different language, primarily Spanish. The translator will need to read, listen, and convey important information between the school and family on various topics and depth. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Other Skills and Abilities: Understand written procedures, speak clearly and understand
multi-step written and oral instructions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all school requirements and Laramie County School District #2 policies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- In-person and/or voice interaction between the employee, parent and/or student. The noise level in a school environment is usually moderate.
