Temporary Entry-Level Tax Assistant

Position Overview
Lara’s Income Tax is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Tax Assistant to support our team during the upcoming tax season. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in tax preparation, client service, and office operations within a fast-paced, community-focused tax practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet clients, check them in, and assist with intake forms
- Gather and organize client documents (W-2s, 1099s, receipts, IDs, prior-year returns, etc.)
- Perform basic data entry into tax software under supervision
- Scan, file, and maintain digital/physical records
- Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and provide general customer service
- Assist preparers with simple calculations, research, or document checks
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive information
- Support daily office tasks to keep workflow running smoothly
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Basic computer proficiency (typing, scanning, navigating software)
- Comfortable communicating with clients in person and over the phone
- Willingness to learn tax concepts and office procedures
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a busy environment
Preferred
- Experience in customer service, admin work, or bookkeeping
- Familiarity with basic tax forms
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
Schedule & Compensation
- Temporary role during tax season (January–April)
- Flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- Compensation based on experience
