CSI Sands (N.E.) provides a full range of aggregate and resource materials production services. We are equipped to handle every phase of the materials engineering process, from initial exploration to delivery of the end-product.
We are currently searching for a Logistics Coordinator to complement our team at our site in Buffalo, NY. This position will report to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities:
Transportation & Trucking Operations
- Supervise and direct delivery truck operations to ensure timely, safe, and compliant product delivery.
- Manage truck dispatching, routing, and scheduling to optimize efficiency and customer service.
- Review, approve, and verify weekly driver timecards in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with hours‑of‑service regulations, vehicle inspections, and all applicable transportation safety standards.
- Supervise, train, and provide performance management for truck drivers.
Railcar & Railroad Management
- Manage railcar operations, including scheduling, spotting, loading, and release of railcars.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day activities with Class I and Class II railroad partners to ensure service reliability and contract compliance.
- Oversee railcar loading operations to ensure safety, accuracy, and adherence to loading specifications.
- Review rail billing and invoices, validate charges, and work with rail carriers to resolve discrepancies.
Operations & Coordination
- Serve as the first point of contact for operational issues involving drivers and railyard personnel, escalating matters to management as required.
- Coordinate work schedules for drivers and rail crews, communicate assignments, and obtain required signoffs.
- Collaborate with customers, contractors, and internal and external logistics teams to coordinate frac, foundry, and railyard deliveries.
- Review and verify transportation documentation, including daily logs, inspection reports, delivery receipts, and shipping paperwork.
- Monitor job progress, operational performance, and transportation costs, providing regular reports to Management.
- Assist in resolving product, material, and equipment issues that impact fulfillment or delivery.
- Identify operational challenges and recommend process improvements to increase productivity, safety, and service quality.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support new employee onboarding activities as directed by management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Requirements:
- Experience in transportation, logistics, rail operations, or supply chain management.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience in trucking, rail, or industrial operations preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, hours‑of‑service rules, and safe work practices.
- Experience coordinating with railroads (Class I and Class II) and managing railcar movements is an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, operational environment with multiple priorities.
