Job description: CDL—A Flatbed Driver 

Job Summary:

Our Drivers at Alkar Steel are an important point of contact with our customers. Load, secure and deliver

flat-rolled coil steel materials in a safe, efficient, timely and professional manner.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Deliver finished material in a timely, safe and professional manner.

Load and secure materials per work instructions and applicable regulations.

Visually inspect 100% of material for damage and/or missing or incorrect tags.

Complete daily vehicle inspections and all eLog requirements.

Maintain Preventive Maintenance schedule on trucks and trailers.

Work closely with foreman to resolve any problems that may occur.

Carry out any other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

Must have a current unrestricted Class A CDL License.

Must have and maintain a good driving record.

Prefer experience hauling heavy loads, experience hauling steel is a plus.

Prefer Lift Truck experience, training is available.

Ability to work with little hands—on supervision. Self motivated.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit,

and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds and to climb onto the

bed and into the cab of the truck.
