Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Slitter Operator to join our manufacturing team specializing in steel coil processing. The ideal candidate will operate and maintain slitting machinery, ensuring precise cuts and high-quality output. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical systems, and safety protocols. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate steel coil slitting machines with precision to meet specified dimensions and tolerances
- Perform routine inspections of coils and finished products using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments
- Adjust machine parameters based on blueprint specifications and quality standards
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the production process to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Maintain equipment by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and making necessary adjustments
- Read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for proper machine setup and operation
- Utilize hand tools, tooling, cranes, forklifts, and other equipment safely during operations
- Document production data accurately for traceability and process improvement purposes
- Adhere to all safety guidelines related to manufacturing operations including crane operation, welding, plasma cutting, CNC machining, and electrical discharge machining
Experience
- Prior experience operating slitting machines or similar manufacturing equipment is preferred
- Knowledge of CNC laser cutting, CNC programming, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, stamping presses, press brake machines, electrical discharge machining, plasma cutting, welding, and fabrication techniques is advantageous
- Mechanical knowledge related to sheet metal processing, tooling setup, machining processes, and blueprint reading is essential
- Familiarity with quality inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, precision measuring instruments is required
- Experience working with cranes or forklifts in a manufacturing setting is beneficial
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations involved in fabrication and assembly processes
- Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles
