Position Summary:
The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing the Company’s tax function, including compliance, reporting, and planning. This role partners closely with the Company’s external CPA firm to ensure timely and accurate filing of federal, state, and local tax returns including income, franchise, commercial, business, and property taxes (direct taxes) as well as compliance on sales & use taxes and Canadian consumption taxes (indirect taxes).
Tax Manager will support the external CPA firm on the preparation and review of the Company’s tax provision in accordance with ASC 740. The Tax Manager serves as a primary liaison with external auditors and tax authorities, monitors changes in tax legislation, and evaluates the impact on the business. This position also supports tax-efficient structuring of operations and transactions to minimize risk and optimize the Company’s overall tax position.
In addition to compliance, the Tax Manager acts as a strategic partner to finance and executive leadership by providing insights that inform business decisions. Responsibilities include identifying tax savings opportunities, enhancing processes through automation and controls, and supporting initiatives such as mergers, acquisitions, and entity restructuring. This role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and translate complex tax concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-tax stakeholders. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with leadership, project management, and communication skills to drive value across the organization.
Key Deliverables:
- Oversee and manage all federal, state, and local tax filings, including extensions and estimated payments, in coordination with external CPA firm
- Serve as primary point of contact with external CPA firm and advisors
- Review corporate tax returns for completeness, accuracy, and risk exposure
- Lead tax research and planning initiatives based on current tax laws
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements, including ASC 740 (deferred tax assets and liabilities)
- Support M&A activity, including tax due diligence and review of tax-related contract provisions
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5–8 years of tax experience. Combination of public accounting and/or corporate tax experience
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 740 (Tax Provision), and federal & state tax laws
- Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated initiative, intellectual curiosity, and strong ownership of work products
- Ability and desire to quickly learn Lanter’s business model, systems, data, and reporting tools
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to make confident, fact-based decisions
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, and translate financial data into clear insights for business leaders
- Superior organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple priorities and simultaneous projects
- Ability to influence without direct authority
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze large datasets and present findings clearly
Preferred Experience:
- CPA designation (active license optional)
- Canadian tax experience a plus
- Master’s in taxation a plus (MST)
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position; hours of work are typically Monday through Friday between 8:00 – 5:00pm, averaging 40 - 45 hours per week, with ability to work extra hours as determined by the workload and internal customer expectations.
Travel:This position may require occasional travel.

Salary : $120,000 - $135,000
