JOB TITLE: Trust and Probate Legal Assistant/Paralegal FLSA: Non-Exempt; Hourly STATUS: Full-time; On-site
This position shall perform various substantive legal duties under the supervision of the attorneys in the transactional practice group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage trust and probate cases including estate administration and trust management.
- Communicate with clients, court officials, and third parties regarding case matters.
- Draft and prepare legal documents, such as wills, trusts, power of attorneys, and probate petitions.
- Conduct legal research and assist with the preparation of court filings and pleadings.
- Schedule and coordinate hearings, clients meetings, and other appointments.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills Requirement
- Must have a high school diploma or GED. A certificate in paralegal studies is preferred or or equivalent experience in a legal assistant role.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in trust and probate law or estate planning.
- Must have a high level of computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Basic accounting knowledge.
- Familiarity with Alabama probate laws and procedures.
- Excellent time management, organizational abilities and strong proofreading skills are also required.
