What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investment Adviser Representative position at Langley Federal Credit Union?
The Investment Adviser Representative assists members and/or new clients by assessing their financial goals, needs and objectives while providing them with exceptional personalized service and tailored solutions. This Representative will utilize financial planning as a means of product recommendations. The Investment Adviser Representative services existing investment clients by providing quarterly, semi-annual or annual reviews of their investment performance and identifies cross-sell opportunities for existing clients.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Will work with Members/clients in multiple Langley branch locations such as Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, Yorktown
- Will be provided with an existing book of business
- Base Salary plus commission pay structure
- Addresses needs of potential and existing investment clients by analyzing needs and goals, presenting options to meeting those short-term and long-term goals.
- Identifies additional products and sales opportunities for existing clients.
- Manages client portfolios on an ongoing basis and continue to build and retain your assigned client base. Conduct periodic reviews of portfolios and provide appropriate reports addressing client's ongoing needs.
- Promotes professional development by maintaining an in-depth understanding of financial planning, capital markets and the financial services industry. Stays abreast of significant changes or developments (e.g. taxation, regulatory, legal, and competitive) within the financial services field.
- Perform all related job duties and office operations in accordance to established Credit Union and broker dealer policy and procedures.
- Follow credit union policies for compliance with all laws and regulations, specifically, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, Security Policies and Confidentiality Policies
- Perform pro-active prospecting activities to outside centers of influence in order to grow client base.
- Consults on investment and insurance strategies, as well as the development of financial plans for clients. Grows and retains an investment and insurance book of business. Owns the client experience, efficiently handling sales and service, identifying sales and/or executing opportunities and making referrals to internal business partners as appropriate.
- Acquires, expands and maintains client relationships through business development and client networking. Grows client loyalty and share of wallet through an exceptional client experience. Applies product and procedural knowledge to solve client problems appropriately and efficiently.
- Develops and implements investment and insurance strategies for clients. Determines the best products to support such strategies. Presents sound financial recommendations and guidance to clients. Establishes individual financial plans based on client financial needs and objectives. Monitors financial plans and recommends changes as needed.
- Actively and regularly coaches and educates branch staff and internal business partners to identify investment opportunities. Drives investment education and visibility among branch staff. In partnership with branch manager, leads the branch team on actions to achieve investment results. Shows urgency with activities and leads by example. Has regular and effective communication with internal and external partners to build strong relationships that drive referral activity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Development, Management, Sales, Finance or another business-related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- FINRA Series 7, 66 (63 and 65 in lieu of 66) licenses.
- Applicable state life and health licenses.
- Possess clean credit and U-4 CRD history.
- Must be able to travel locally up to 35%.
