Landscaping Worker (Summer)

Department: Maintenance

Reports to: Director of Facility Management

Grade/Wage: Grade LTE, $15.00 to $20.00

FLSA Status/Hours: Non-Exempt, 32 Hours per week

Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities Management, complete the lawn mowing, trimming, and landscaping at all County properties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily and in a timely manner. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.

  • Ability to operate lawnmowers, trimmers, and other equipment used for lawn maintenance and landscaping in a safe manner.
  • Ability to work under supervision and follow directions.
  • Ability to display Initiative, critical thinking, exercise good judgment and assume responsibility.

Education and/or Experience;

High School – at least 16 years of age with knowledge of mowers, power equipment, and vehicles.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and work in a pleasant manner with others.
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Obey all safety rules and regulations
  • Promote a positive image of Langlade County at all times
  • Some experience operating lawn equipment, small power tools, trucks and trailers
  • Any small engine, mechanical skills for minor repairs on lawn equipment.
  • May include weeding, planting, and other general landscape tasks
  • After storms, remove broken or falling branches.
  • Seasonal tasks may include leaf cleanup and snow plowing
  • Establish and maintain trees, shrubs, planting beds
  • Assist with set up, take down, and movement of materials for events in county facilities’
  • Apply paint products
  • Use of different style ladders
  • Monitor activities in and around work areas for purposes of prevent injuries and ensure site safety
  • Work with specific job-related data using problem solving to identify issues and adapt to changing work priorities with interruptions

  • Basic Computer Skills – Timecard

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions.
