What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Medical Technician (Part Time) position at Lanesborough Ambulance?
Pay Rate: $24.50/hour
Position: EMT-Basic (Part-Time)
EMTs provide EMT-Basic level pre-hospital care in accordance with current Massachusetts Statewide Treatment Protocols and the department’s affiliation agreement with Berkshire Medical Center. Duties include patient care and transport, operating emergency vehicles, maintaining equipment and vehicles, and performing light custodial, grounds, and station maintenance tasks as assigned by the EMS Director.
Schedule & Commitment
- 24 hours per week
- 24-hour shifts
- 48 mandatory hours per month on Saturdays and/or Sundays
- Overtime available at time-and-a-half
Work Environment
This position involves frequent interaction with the public, emergency services, and hospital staff in environments that may vary from routine to hazardous. EMTs must remain professional at all times and be prepared for extended responses, late calls, and variable conditions including weather and terrain.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license with clean driving record
- Current MA EMT-Basic and/or NREMT certification
- Knowledge of MA Statewide Treatment Protocols and ambulance regulations
- Prior EMT experience preferred, but all qualified candidates considered
- Ability to work independently, remain organized, and communicate effectively
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 125 lbs unassisted, perform patient movement and care, operate equipment, and work in physically demanding conditions. Pre-employment physical and drug screening required.
