Responsibilities
This is a fully remote, part-time contract role, approximately 12–15 hours per week, at $22/hour. Remote-friendly; Candidates in the Eastern Time zone are preferred.
We're looking for a Media Relations & Editorial Associate who is sharp, self-directed, and serious about the craft. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Developing and distributing press releases and media advisories.
- Writing pitches customized for reporters, editors, freelance journalists, contributors, and stringers
- Cultivating relationships with key media outlets and managing media inquiries.
- Drafting email interviews, award submission packages, executive profiles, and applications for speaking events.
- Collaborating on editorial content and client communications strategy.
- Coordinating webinars and virtual events, as needed.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in PR, communications, journalism, or editorial — agency or journalism background strongly preferred
- A strong writer and an instinctive editor who can work fast without losing quality
- Proven experience pitching journalists and securing coverage. Please be ready to speak to specific placements
- Familiarity with media outreach tools (Prowly, Qwoted, Muck Rack, Cision, or similar)
- Comfortable working independently in a lean, fast-moving environment with high standards
- Experience across business, sports, health, or lifestyle verticals is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, PR, or related field preferred
