Position Purpose/Summary
Working under the direction of the Behavioral Health Pathway Specialist, the Behavioral Health Pathway Coach provides coaching, mentoring, and career pathway support to high school students participating in the Lane ESD Lane Career Academy for Behavioral Health. The position supports student participation and progress in program activities and experiences, serves as a positive role model for students exploring behavioral health careers, and assists students in connecting with educational, training, workforce, and community opportunities.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Education and Experience
Required
The position requires minimal physical exertion. Work is normally performed while standing, walking, or sitting as required. Periodically, the position may require light lifting of materials/supplies up to 20 lbs. when transitioning from site to site.
Work Environment/Conditions
Generally, the position operates in an indoor work environment performing clean, non-hazardous work. This is an itinerant position requiring travel between multiple work sites, including high schools and community locations. The position may involve exposure to inclement weather during travel, site visits, field trips, or community activities.
The work schedule will be developed to support the employee's success as a postsecondary student while meeting program needs. Scheduled work time will generally include time during the school day to allow the Behavioral Health Pathway Coach to meet with participating high school students.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of Board policy and the evaluation program adopted for the position.

- To Provide Student Coaching and Support by:
- Providing individual and small-group coaching, mentoring, and support to participating students.
- Serving as a positive role model for students exploring behavioral health and human services careers.
- Supporting students in identifying and working toward personal, educational, and career goals.
- Supporting student participation and progress in program activities and experiences, including high school and college classes, trainings, career exploration activities, and workforce-like experiences.
- Facilitating coaching and debriefing sessions with students.
- Providing positive reinforcement, encouragement, and constructive feedback.
- Assisting students in identifying and accessing appropriate educational, career, school, and community resources.
- To Support Program Activities and Student Experiences by:
- Facilitating or assisting with instructional, training, and career exploration experiences for students.
- Conducting observations of students participating in behavioral health-related workforce experiences and completing observation reports, as assigned.
- Preparing materials and resources for students and participating schools.
- Planning, preparing for, and supporting program events and activities.
- Compiling attendance and other program-related data as assigned.
- To Develop School and Community Partnerships by:
- Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with participating schools, higher education institutions, behavioral health and human services organizations, and other community partners.
- Conducting outreach to relevant community organizations to support development of partnerships and resources for the program.
- Facilitating connections among students, schools, higher education institutions, community partners, and workforce opportunities.
- Representing the program at meetings, tabling events, outreach activities, and other program or community events.
- To Support Program Development by:
- Providing input and recommendations regarding program implementation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborating with the Behavioral Health Pathway Specialist, Lane ESD staff, school staff, and community partners to support program goals.
- Participating in regular program meetings, training, and professional development.
- To Perform Other Duties as Assigned:

Education and Experience
Required
- Current enrollment in a postsecondary program in behavioral health, human services, social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working with or supporting youth, young adults, or individuals in a behavioral health, human services, education, or related setting.
- Experience or coursework related to behavioral health, human services, social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Knowledge of behavioral health, human services, social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining positive, respectful, and supportive relationships with high school students, school staff, families, and community partners.
- Skill in effective communication, active listening, and interpersonal interactions with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
- Skill in providing strengths-based coaching, mentoring, encouragement, and constructive feedback to students.
- Ability to facilitate individual and small-group coaching and debriefing sessions while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with program staff, school staff, and community partners.
- Ability to organize responsibilities, maintain accurate program information and records, and exercise appropriate judgment and professionalism.
- Skill in using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and other technology appropriate to the assignment.
