Position Summary:
The Food Service Worker is responsible for performing a variety of duties in the preparation, serving, and cleaning of food service operations to ensure quality service and sanitation in the college dining facilities. This position supports a positive dining experience by providing excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare and serve food items according to standardized recipes and instructions.

Set up and restock food stations with proper food items, utensils, and supplies.

Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, and dish machines safely and efficiently.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and utensils.

Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure food safety and compliance with health regulations.

Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies.

Serve food in a courteous and professional manner, adhering to portion control guidelines.

Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, counters, and other dining surfaces after meal service.

Dispose of waste and manage recycling and compost materials according to campus policy.

Follow all college and departmental safety protocols and procedures.
Qualifications:
Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Prior experience in food service or customer service preferred but not required.

Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks related to food service.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.
Preferred:

Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices.

ServSafe or similar food handler certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Work Schedule:

Variable shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Must be flexible and reliable in attendance and scheduling.
Working Conditions:

Exposure to hot equipment, cleaning chemicals, and crowded kitchen environments.

Requires standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive motions throughout the shift.
