What work will you perform?
The Cybersecurity Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level security architectures that protect Landstar’s confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This role serves as a strategic advisor and technical expert, ensuring security is embedded across all initiatives and aligned with business objectives.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Security Architecture & Design

- Develop and maintain enterprise security architecture frameworks, standards, and guidelines.
- Design secure solutions for cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA).
- Risk Management

- Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for new and existing solutions.
- Recommend mitigation strategies and security controls based on risk analysis.
- Technology Leadership

- Evaluate emerging security technologies and trends; provide recommendations for adoption.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and DevSecOps teams to integrate security best practices.
- Governance & Compliance

- Define and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Support audits and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Incident Response & Advisory

- Serve as a subject matter expert during security incidents and investigations.
- Provide guidance on secure coding practices and vulnerability remediation.
Required Minimum Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
- 10 years of experience in cybersecurity
- 5 years in an architecture or senior technical role
Preferred Experience and Education:
- Master’s degree
- CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or CIAC (GSTRT, GCIH, GSEC).
- Cloud security certifications (AWS Certified Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of:
- Incident detection and response, end point security, network security, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, secure protocols, recovery strategies, policy development, audit processes, risk management, third-party risk management, and penetration / red team testing.
- Cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container security.
- Zero Trust architecture and modern security frameworks.
- Familiarity with compliance standards: NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, SOC 2.
- Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, firewalls, and vulnerability management technologies.
- Strong ability to break down complex problems.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
